Video of the day

Dear Friends,

JAPAN! The characters that make up Japan’s name mean “sun-origin country”, which is why Japan is sometimes identified as “The Land Of The Rising Sun”.

Between 22nd-25th of September, together with Pastor Zhuang & Naomi, we were in Fukuoka and Kumamoto Japan to train the pastors and leaders there. The mission for this trip is to assist them in implementing the Cell Group system in our affiliated churches; Fukuoka Harvest Church founded by Senior Pastor Nishida and Kumamoto Harvest Church founded by Senior Pastor Yoji.

Fukuoka is located on the northern coast of Kyushu Island, while Kumamoto is situated in the centre of Kyushu at the western end of Japan. Flight from Singapore to Fukuoka is 6 hours, while a car ride between Fukuoka and Kumamoto is about 2 hours. A total of 4 sessions and 1 workshop was done to further equip the church in not just understanding how a cell group meeting is carried out, but also to have a practical experience in it.

In the 4 sessions spreaded over 3 days, we covered topics on the qualities of a leader, importance of home cell group, technical aspect of running a cell group and growing a cell group. At the end of the sessions, there would also be a time of Q&A to further reinforce the knowledge they have received.

In one of the days, we had the opportunity to fellowship with Pastor Leo Taylor & Pastor Robert Taylor from America. Pastor Leo is one of the pioneering missionaries who came to Japan in the late 60s - early 70s, settled down in Japan and planted his ministry in Japan. His son, Pastor Robert has followed in the footsteps of his dad through these many years in Japan. They speak really fluent japanese!

To sum it all up, this trip had been fruitful because not only did we show how a cell group is going to be carried out, we’ve also taught them the technicalities of a cell group meeting, qualities of a leader and managed to identify that the focus now is not just on implementing a cell group system in the church, but also a focus on evangelism and retention. Let’s keep Japan in our prayers constantly for revival as we cheer them on and do sign up for missions to Japan some time in the near future! GAMBATTE!!!

Our daily reward for a day’s work in Japan missions….A DELICIOUS BOWL OF RAMEN!

Sincerely,
Jason Teo
N250 Cell Group Leader
